Huchuy Qosqo Trek Details

This Huchuy Qosqo Trek is around Cusco that takes us to the weaver village of Patabamba at the top of the sacred valley of the Incas, it also takes us to the Inca archaeological site of Huchuy Qosqo which is located on a cliff with incredible views of the Sacred Valley of the Incas.

During the trail you will be able to appreciate incredible arid and mountainous landscapes, also potato crops, shepherds of alpacas, llamas, and sheep, and wildlife such as eagles, geese, partridges, etc.

Itinerary at a Glance.

  • Day 1: Cusco – Tambomachay – Qori Cocha Lagoon– Patabamba BandThis morning we will hike to Qoricocha Lake and enjoy lunch, in the afternoon we will hike to the weavers village of Patabamba band.
  • Day 2: Patabamba – Huchuy Qosqo Archaeological site – Lamay Villague - Cusco CityHike along the Original Inca Trail to the archaeological center of Huchuyq Qosqo for lunch. Exploration of the site and departure to the Lamay to return to Cusco.

Huchuy Qosqo Trek Full Itinerary

Day 1Cusco – Tambomachay – Qori Cocha lagoon– Patabamba Town.

We will pick you up from your Cusco hotel at 7:00am in our transportation. We will travel for about 20 minutes to Tambomachay (3,800 masl – 12,467 fasl), the starting point of our Huchuy Qosqo trek. We will pass through landscapes of grasslands until we reach the Sicllaccasa pass (4100 masl – 13186 fasl) from where we will have incredible views of the Cusco Valley and the Corao Valley with farmland.

After a short break we will continue up the hillside until we reach the shores of Lake Qoricocha, here we will have lunch with stunning views of the arid landscape in the mountains, we will also be able to see alpaca herders, sheep and wild birds such as geese, partridges.

After lunch, we will continue with our Quchuy Qosqo Trek to the town of Patabamba band, it will be a walk of approximately three hours to the town, where the locals will welcome us at andean style and settle us in their homes. Afterwards we will share a cup of hot tea while the local family shows us their way of life in the Andes. Finally we will share our dinner and then we will go to rest.

Day 2Patabamba – Huchuy Qosqo Archaeological site – Lamay Villague - Cusco City.

After breakfast, this section of the Huchuy Qosqo Trek will take us to the town of Sihua and the Pukamarca pass (4150 masl – 13615 fasl). From here we will have incredible views of the sacred valley mountain range. Then we will continue with a downhill walk to the community of Pumamarka. Then we will continue with our walk through the Puma Punku canyon (the door of the puma), an original Inca section of the Huchuy Qosqo Trek that will take us to the isolated Inca site of Huchuy Qosqo (Little Cusco) located above the Sacred Valley of the Incas (3600 masl – 11811 fasl). Once in Huchuy Qosqo we will go to have lunch.

After lunch, we will go to the archaeological center where our guide will explain the history and function of the site, such as sacred temples, warehouses, agricultural terraces, etc. this activity is like 1 hour explring the incan site.

After the guided tour, we begin our walk downhill to the town of Lamay (2800 masl – 9186 fasl), this walk is approximately two hours where our bus will be waiting for you to get you back to your hotel in the city of Cusco.

Patabamba Band - What is included?

  • MealsAre included since the breakfast of the day 1, until the lunch of the last day. Also we include a snack per day and boiled, filtered and cooled water for your bottles. Those are prepared by our mountain chef.
  • Medical KitAll our team were trained in first aid, all our guides carry a kit to face emergencies as well an oxygen tank.
  • Pre departure briefing.Pre departure briefing you will have a meet with your guide and group in our office a day before at 6pm.
  • Trekking Equipment.During the trek we will transport 8 kg of your belongings for that will provide you a duffle bag, also a rain poncho.

What is not included?

  • Single Roomif you require a single room has an extra cost, it is 20 USD additional.
  • Gratuities for the team.Tipping is a common tradition on any kind of tour, normally the group participants collect their tips to hand out to the muleteers, chefs and guides. Although we pay a good salary to all our team, always an extra is welcome for them.
  • Meals not mentioned.The dinner of the last day.
  • Trekking poles.

    Walking sticks with rubber tips are highly recommended to make easy your hilke. If you dont have, dont worry, we can rent them.

Pricing & Departure Dates

The Huchuy Qosqo Trek can leave on any day of the week, from March to January. we dont leave on february because rain a lot.

The departured are 100% guaranted, because we operate since two travelers.

Land Cost

Group Service Price: $ 240.00  US$ 200 per person.

Required Deposit:  To book, you need to make a pre payment of US$ 100.00 per person by PayPal.

Please after deposit send us to booking@doadventuresperu.com the transfer number. Only with this we will be able to confirm your pre payment and reservation of the trek.

Balance: it is US$ 100.00, the remaining balance can be paid online by Paypal in advance, or in Cusco at briefing with cash (recommend) .

Notice: If your are going to pay the balance with credit or debit car is a charges 5%. that have to be covered by the clients, this tax is jus for the remaining balance, or can be pay in Cusco with cash without tax before estar the tour.
